Research Assistant

    Biography

Alex received his B.A. in Molecular Biology and Psychology from UC Berkeley in 2021. While in university, Alex studied how people navigate interpersonal relationships in different social settings under Dr. Juliana Schreoder. Post-graduation, Alex shifted his research focus to investigate macrophage biology and immunometabolism in mouse models of cardiometabolic inflammation and atherosclerosis. In the three years he spent within Dr. Raffai’s Lab, Alex investigated the role of ApoE in the modulation of macrophage bioenergetics and the production of extracellular vesicles (EVs) with bioactive signaling properties. Alex also investigated the therapeutic potential of alternatively activated M2-macrophages exosomes to improve cardiovascular health. Now, Alex is now set to pursue his MD/PhD with an emphasis in immunology at the University of Southern California.
